MED4158: Live Newsroom update

From last posting on my blog about my Live Newsroom module, I feel as although I have gathered a lot more confidence in the skills that I had already learned and ultimately how to utilise them to better myself as a journalist.

I have actively sought to approach people who I would not normally for interviews, most recently and notably Birmingham Councillor List Trickett about the new Birmingham clean air zone and rising implementation of low traffic zones, specifically in Kings Heath. The interview was highly successful in the information that I wanted for my blog post, as well as bettering my knowledge on the issue.

Additionally to this, In have recently learned the importance of accuracy of my research through being able to fact check and assess the reliability of sources and the information that they give. One way is to view a variety of sources that are generally credited and deemed reliable to determine the accuracy of information by gathering different viewpoints of the same topic. For images, Google's reverse image search enables you to view the original unedited version of photos, making the photo visible to amendments. By being able to complete detailed and accurate research, and understanding the importance of it, I am able to produce better quality and reliable work which should make me more employable in the journalism industry in the future.
